DMT Supports Elderly-Led Community Products to Generate Income in Don Mueang District

Don Muang Tollway Public Company Limited (DMT) continues its commitment to enhancing the quality of life for senior citizens by supporting community-made products along the tollway route. This initiative is part of the “Tollway Better Way” project, which focuses on promoting vocational skills, increasing income opportunities, and empowering vulnerable groups within society.

Ms. Atchara Chareonporn, Chief of Sustainable Development Officer, represented DMT during a field visit to elderly groups in Don Mueang District. The visit aimed to follow up on the progress of senior citizens who had completed vocational training programs and to offer encouragement to those producing local goods with DMT's support.

DMT has incorporated these community products into its “Stay Awake Gift Bags,” which are distributed to tollway users during major Thai festivals such as Songkran and New Year. The initiative promotes safe driving while simultaneously generating practical income for local communities.

The supported products include:

  • Turmeric and honey herbal soap (50g) – produced by the Thepparat Community Elderly Group in Don Mueang District. This traditional herbal soap was distributed during Songkran and reflects local wisdom in skin care.
  • Herbal liquid balm (5 ml) – produced by the Ployphailin Community Elderly Group in Don Mueang District. This compact product was included in the New Year gift bags and helps relieve fatigue, making it ideal for travelers.

All of these products are the result of professional vocational training provided by the Bangkok Vocational Training Center. The initiative aims to equip elderly participants with practical skills to generate sustainable income. It also encourages group collaboration to develop unique, community-based products in pilot areas such as Don Mueang and Lak Si Districts.
